How to use a lipstick mold

1. Get organized. Assembled all the ingredient and tools. You want your base, measuring tools and weight scale, pigments, bowl for melting, and gloves. Melt your base in a double boiler or place your metal bowl in a pan of water to heat. The bowl can get hot so make sure you don’t burn yourself. Another option is to melt your base in a plastic cup and microwave. Only heat 30 seconds at a time so you don’t melt your plastic container or overheat the base. You never want it to boil.

Measure out your pigments.

Add them to the melted base.

Pour your base into your assembled mold. You can chill your mold first so it sets quicker.

After your lipstick is completely set use a plastic or silicone tool to scrape off the excess. Don’t use anything that is going to scratch your mold.

Remove the top section of your mold to expose base of your lipstick.

Roll your lipstick tube all the way back down and place it over the base of you lipstick.

Push your lipstick base all the way down to the base of your tube so there is no air between the lipstick base and the tube base.

Pull the lipstick out of the mold and admire your new lipsticks!
