Explanation of Plastic Treatments

Injection Molding: Most all our products are made with a process called injection molding. Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting material into a mold. Material for the part is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity, where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the cavity. Injection molding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest components to entire body panels of cars.

Matte Treatment: In order to get a true matte appearance the final matte color is sprayed onto the container. A matte treatment may also be achieved by not adding any gloss to the initial color injected pigment but it does not have the same luxurious matte look to it. This extra step of taken to matte spray and dry the component also adds to the cost of the container.

Color Injected: This is the least expensive treatment. The color is added to the plastic before injecting it into the mold.

UV Treated: This extra, added step adds a higher price to the product but also adds value to your product. The principle of UV curing is based on initiating a chemical polymerization inside a liquid coating using direct UV irradiation to create a cross-linked, dry, solid coating. There are two elements to a successful UV-curing system—the UV-curable coating and the UV-curing lamps with their support systems.

Overall UV coatings play an important role in protecting our products so that they look better, feel better and maintain structural integrity. Many of the plastic materials used in molding cosmetic components are susceptible to scratching, abrasion and product.

Metalized Lacquer Coating: The most expensive coating that will affect the price of the container. Metallized parts have a lacquer coating with metallic colored pigments. UV coatings are also important for protecting metallized plastic parts. So we have them overspray the metallized parts with a UV coating, making them more resistent to chemical abrasion, as well as scratching.
